Permits and Licensing in Charles County

To pull an electrical permit in Charles County you must hold an active Maryland State Master electrical license or a Charles County Board of Electrical Examiners Restricted Master license, plus a current certificate of insurance on file with the county for at least $300,000 general liability and $100,000 property damage. Homeowners are explicitly barred from working on panel boards, service changes, swimming pools, piers, and detached buildings — even with a Homeowner's Electrical Permit. Trade permits are submitted through the county's Citizen Self Service Portal and are typically reviewed within two business days.
